How to Apply Wine to Dye Photographic Prints

Photographers classically tone black or white prints with commercial, not organic toners, which quickly dye prints to somewhat of a sepia shade. Since they can be expensive, toxic and tricky to look for, some prefer not to apply them. These photographers tone their prints with many different organic materials, such seeing that coffee grounds, tea leaves behind, tobacco or red wines. Red wine will give grayscale photos a light wine red shade.

Instructions

Brush frisket through your photo's border using a paintbrush if you need it to stay along with white. Let frisket dry. This task is optional.

Fill photography tray with fresh drinking water. Using the tongs, submerge your photo within the water to open the photo paper's fibers; this will likely better absorb the wines. Let the photo rest for 2-10 minutes.

Pour a bottle of wine into another photo rack. Transfer the photo out of your water to the wine while using the tongs. Check the print every short while until it is toned on your liking.

Remove photography using tongs. Hang even on a clothesline to dry.
