Whether you are really a professional photographer or an amateur hoping to produce professional-looking photos, you require a backdrop to make any pictures pop. Commercially made backdrops can cost many hundreds dollars -- a steep price to spend an amateur's hobby or maybe a professional's basic tools. On the plus side, you can make your special backdrop with a small canvas, some paint, several sponges and a 100 % free afternoon.

Instructions

    1

Buy an important painter's drop cloth in your local paint or home-improvement keep. You also can buy muslin or canvas from a form of art or theatrical supply go shopping, but these will be more expensive. Whatever fabric you finally choose, look for a piece and no seams. Pick up some cloth sponges when you are at the store. You'll need at least one sponge for any paint color.

    2

Purchase standard flat enamel paint from the colors that appeal to you personally. If you want to manufacture a mottled effect, buy many color.

    3

Wash and also dry the drop pads; then lay it and incapacitated and tape it along at the corners to manufacture a flat, stable painting area. You may need towards iron the cloth if it is too wrinkled to coloring easily.

    4

Pour the actual paint onto a plastic-type material palette or shallow tray. Soak the sponge and squeeze out the extra water. Press the sponge in to the paint; then blot gently over a paper towel or newspaper to cut out any excess paint. Press the sponge to the drop cloth to bring about the desired effect. Try different shades of this same color family or neutral tones to get a tone-on-tone effect. Apply lighter colors over darker tones to produce depth.

    5

Add far more colors, using a separate sponge for every. Gently sponge on colors unless you want to achieve the look you are looking for. Sponge over the surface which includes a clean, damp cloth to produce a mottled effect.
