Stereoview images, also known as stereoscopics, were a prominent method of entertainment and education while in the early 20th century. These types of pictures, mounted on charge cards, had visual depth similar to 3D images when viewed by using a special lens. Teachers and wealthy family members often purchased entire cabinets for these images, for viewing and even storage, which included patients like distant cities together with interesting people. Keystone, typically the major manufacturer of stereoview credit cards and cabinets, had a number of series, among them "Tour of this World. "
History
Stereoview images were popular inside U. S. between typically the 1850s and 1930s. Businesses used staff photographers to get together the images, or bought negatives from other programs. Keystone View Company was the one purveyor of stereoscopics immediately after 1920. They famously attained images obtained from the end of the primary World War, which increased their popularity enough to build them a world-wide occurrence. At the height in their popularity, Keystone alone got 50, 000 prints out there.
Construction
Stereoview cabinets were made with a hard wood, along the lines of oak. Keystone made diverse styles, but many were manufactured in three sections, with paneled doors overlaying drawers for stereographic cards on top. The middle section listed smaller drawers for slides and rested with an elevated base of several legs.
