How to Assemble People for Portraits

Whether you'd like your family's portrait or you're a photographer yourself, arranging people for portrait photos is actually a creative challenge that requires awareness of detail and to those in the photo. Arranging people in portraits is realistic with a few simple tricks that are offered regardless of your ability in photography.

Instructions

Write a list of all people who will wear the portrait. This will assist you to organize and arrange every person based on height, age or any other way you wish to have everyone together within the photo.

Plan of having chairs or other seats available (such as benches or stools) for many who prefer to sit within portraits -- or for children which are short (if you are having many of the adults stand).

Place adults during the back row whenever using families. Enclose the family by using a grandparent on either end and then the children and grandchildren inside the front.

Arrange from age, increasing from your left or right section. You can also set up everyone by height, intending from shortest to highest (or vice versa).

Have those during the photo stand using the color of their clothes, keeping analogous colors better together (such as efficient, teal and light blue) at the same time separating complementary colors including red and green (unless you wish someone to stand out that beats all others in the portrait).
