DIY Foam Major Soft Box

Soft boxes are primarily used by portrait photography, where tender light is highly ideal. Opposed to the dark shadows developed by hard light, soft lgt reflects light from many sources, causing the aggressive, contrasting lines to minimize. Soft light can be performed several ways, but a soft box is extremely commonly used in digital photography studios. Soft boxes purchased coming from a store can easily run approximately $300. However, a homemade foam primary soft box is an economical alternative.

Instructions

    1

Measure the strobe you'll end up using with the froth core soft box. Remember or write down the measurements in centimeters.

    2

Create four trapeze shapes in the foam core using a new pencil and ruler. All trapeze shapes should have a relatively bottom of 40 cm. Involved with the bottom line (at 20 cm), carefully sketch a perpendicular 35 cm path. Create the top within the trapeze by drawing a line parallel using the bottom. Two of the top lines treatments for anxiety length of the strobe as well as the other remaining two work better width of the strobe. To center the most notable line, divide the measurements in half to create equal lines on the sketched perpendicular line. Connect the bottom and top lines however four trapeze shapes simply using a straight edge and pad. Cut the four trapeze shapes running a utility knife. Place the straight edge or ruler about the lines of the trapeze when cutting.

    3

Tape both pieces of plywood alongside one another, one on top within the other so that almost all sides are even. Drill three evenly spaced holes towards the plywood, at 5 cm, 12. 5 cm as well as 20 cm. Remove the tape with the plywood. Center one piece of plywood on one of several two longer top trapeze shaped bits of foam core. The 25 cm duration of the plywood should run across the 35 cm height within the trapezoid. Using the plywood as being a guide, drill the same three holes towards the foam core.

    4

Place both waste plywood on the drilled foam core so your foam core is in the midst of the plywood pieces. Guide the bolts inside the drilled holes and safe and sound the bolts with loco.

    5

Tape the actual foam core trapezoids together to a pyramid shape. Both the trapezoids with longer tops must be parallel and the a few trapezoids with shorter tops really should be parallel. The nuts in the plywood and foam core piece could be facing out on a pyramid.

    6

Place that foam core pyramid within the second piece of untouched foam core. Trace the edges using a pencil to manufacture a square or rectangular molded base, depending on the strength of your flash. On each side on the base, measure 3 cm toward the guts. Draw lines using a straight edge in order to form another square as well as rectangular shape. Cut along both sets of lines using your utility knife.

    7

Attach the camp to the pyramid along with tape. Set the soft box together with a piece of whitened silk. Using a immediately edge, trace the bottom part onto the white man made fiber. Cut the silk out slightly bigger than the base. Tape the silk in the base.
